More eReaders Available to Borrow!

Oakville Public Library now has more eReaders available for you to borrow; choose from a Kobo or a Kindle and place your hold online.  30+ titles are already loaded on each device so there’s always something good to read while you give the device a test run.  To see the titles loaded on the eReader, click on the eReader’s name e.g. Kobo EReader Bestsellers 3.  Note that you are able to borrow eReaders for up to 14 days.

OverDrive Media Console App for BlackBerry PlayBook Now Available

The OverDrive Media Console App for BlackBerry PlayBook is now available in BlackBerry App World. Use this app to download audio/eBooks from Oakville Public Library’s Libraries on the Go website for use on the BlackBerry PlayBook.  BlackBerry smartphones are compatible with OverDrive using the OverDrive Media Console App for BlackBerry.

There’s an App for That! How To Get eBooks and Audiobooks from Libraries on the Go Onto Your iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch, Android Device, BlackBerry or Windows Phone 7

1. Libraries on the Go eBook and audiobook titles are not transferred from a PC/MAC to an iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch, Android device, BlackBerry or Windows Phone 7.  Libraries on the Go eBooks and audiobooks are downloaded directly onto these devices using the OverDrive Media Console app.

Downloading eBooks: Compatible devices and computers

This short “cheat sheet” documents which devices and computers are compatible with eBooks from Libraries on the Go.

Kindles in Canada Not Compatible with Library’s Downloadable eBooks

Unfortunately, Kindles in Canada are not compatible with the Libraries on the Go service provided by OverDrive.  Kindles use a proprietary eBook format offered from Amazon and do not support standard DRM-protected EPUB or PDF eBook formats.  For more information on compatible and incompatible eBook devices, please see the OverDrive Device Resource Center webpage located at: http://www.overdrive.com/resources/drc/Default.aspx?type=ebook
