Battle Bulletin

Iroquois Ridge Branch Library hosted the final 2011 Battle of the Books competition. Junior and Senior champions from each region competed for the honour of Regional Champion and the opportunity to display the Regional Trophy in their school for the next year.

The 2011 Junior Regional Champion is Central Public School from Burlington. Also from Burlington is the Senior Regional Champion, Charles R. Beaudoin School. Congratulations to all students for your great success.

Congratulations to all teams who competed in the Regional Battle and played so well: St. Vincent's and Mother Teresa Schools from Oakville, Guardian Angels and St. Anthony of Padua Schools from Milton, and St. Francis of Assisi and St. Joseph's Schools from Halton Hills. You are all champions!

Battle Newsflash!

On Wednesday, April 27, the Grand Battle was held in the Central Library Auditorium. After 2 great games with 4 teams of very enthusiastic and knowledgeable students, we have two new winners.

The winning Junior team is St. Vincent's. Our thanks to the St. Matthew's Junior team for participating in a very well played game.

The winning Senior team is Mother Teresa. Thanks goes to the St. Vincent's Senior team for a very exciting and close game.

Congratulations to all the school teams participating in Battle of the Books this year. You are all winners!

The St. Vincent's and Mother Teresa teams will now go on to the Regional Battle of the Books which will be held in Oakville at the Iroquois Ridge Branch on Thursday, May 12.

After 4 days of battling at the Central Library, we have the 2 top junior teams and 2 top senior teams who will be competing in the Grand Battle.

The two junior teams with the highest scores are St. Matthew's School and St. Vincent's School.

The 2 senior teams with the highest scores are Mother Teresa and St. Vincent.

They will play in the Grand Battle on Wednesday April 27, at 7 pm in the Central Library Auditorium.

Congratulations to all participants who joined us this past week. We hope you had a great day, learned about new books and enjoyed meeting the authors and hearing about their experiences.

Thank you to all teachers, coaches and parents who worked so hard to prepare their students for the battle. Once again, you proved that Oakville kids love to read!
