Description: presented by the oakville museum and the canadian caribbean association and held at erchless estate. celebrate courage. celebrate history. celebrate freedom. emancipation day family picnic. bring your lawn chair and a picnic lunch and enjoy an afternoon of free family entertainment! live music, children's activities and games plus musical and dance performances by: the hope gospel choir, muhtadi world drummers, ccah steel band, tsingory dance troupe. for years after the end of the american civil war, african canadians from across ontario would gather for a picnic in oakville to celebrate their emancipation, and the historic role oakville played in securing their freedom. this year recreate history with your family! join us!
