Oakville Public Library welcomes newcomers to Canada!

Kids, Parents & Teens

Children's library programs

The library is an amazing place for families with many children's books, CDs and DVDs and play kits to borrow. Central Library has a Discovery Centre for young children to learn through play and all our library branches offer children's programs, many of which are free. Story times and programs for babies, pre-schoolers, and school-age children are available in our library programs.

Welcome to Canada story times for preschoolers and their parents are held every week at the Glen Abbey and Iroquois Ridge branches. Welcome to Canada story times are free. No registration required. Just drop in and enjoy! Check dates and times.

Library materials in your language.

Every child ready to read

There are 6 pre-reading skills that children must know in order to learn to read successfully. A free Every Child Ready to Read Parent Guide is available at all Oakville Public Library branches and Book Nooks.

Read and listen to books in many languages on the International Children's Digital Library.

Teens

Oakville Public Library has an active Teen community, a volunteer Teen Advisory Group and programs such as a Teen Book Club, a teen writing contest and poetry workshops.
