Help Your Self (the Séan McCann Story)

Renowned performer Séan McCann – formerly of Great Big Sea – will join us at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on Thursday, May 10 and present his captivating story about surviving abuse, battling addiction, becoming sober, and pursuing his dream of making a difference in the world.

In his genuine Help Your Self performance, Séan uses a combination of music and anecdotes to portray the battles many individuals face and to shed light on the stigmas associated with mental health. Encompassing an inspirational message about self-help and hope, Séan’s resonating narrative allows the audience to enter a world of understanding.

Feel good about joining us for this captivating performance – funds raised from this event will help support library programs, resources, and spaces. In addition, a portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to the Sexual Assault & Violence Intervention Services (SAVIS) of Halton to aid in their work of helping survivors of violence.

The library will also be holding an online auction starting on May 7 and running through to May 13. All community members, whether they are able to attend the event or not, are encouraged to participate and bid on their favourite items.
