A note from our CEO, Tara Wong

COVID-19 is changing almost everything about daily life as we know it.

As a library, we recognize our important role as a community leader and connector in response to this unfolding public health situation.

Many people describe our library as their lifeline — a vital and trusted public space. Although our physical locations remain closed, our staff have been developing innovative ways to deliver a seamless library experience to you, our valued customer. This includes creating an entire virtual library you can access right from your own home, as well as increasing access to free digital resources like eBooks, movies and music to keep you connected. During this time of isolation and distancing, we will continue to creatively adapt and discover new ways to serve you.

I’d like to thank our community for remaining patient and resilient amidst the information updates and uncertainty that have become a hallmark of society’s new normal. I’d also like to extend gratitude to our front-line community workers, including Ontario’s healthcare teams and our outstanding public service staff here at OPL and the Town of Oakville.

We continue to work closely with our municipal and public health partners and will communicate all impacts to our library system as they happen. Please visit opl.ca for the latest updates to our COVID-19 response.

The strength, spirit and kindness I’ve seen displayed in our community over the past few weeks reminds me that we are here to support and keep each other connected during these wholly unprecedented times. The Oakville community is strong, and together, we will get through this.
