Summer Reading Challenge

Join our Summer Reading Challenge! Log your reading and participate in great activities to earn digital badges PLUS you’ll have a chance to win some great prizes along the way!

This year, the Summer Reading Challenge will be offered on a new platform to OPL called Beanstack. Also new, we have expanded the Summer Reading Challenge beyond kids. Now the whole family can participate and win great prizes.

Summer Reading is free to join. As you read books and engage in the activities, you will be receive badges and be eligible to win prizes. Children can read independently, read to someone else, or have someone read to them. Books, magazines, comics, newspapers, and audio-books are all accepted.

Registration for the 2020 Summer Reading Challenge and it’s programming will begin on Monday June 29, 2020, and ends on Friday August 28, 2020. For more information, please read our Frequently Asked Questions found on Beanstack.

How do I register for the Summer Reading Challenge?

To get started, create a Beanstack account. Caregivers create an account for their children. Access the Beanstack or login through the Beanstack app (available through the App Store and Google Play).

How do I use Beanstack for Summer Reading Challenges?

In Beanstack, you earn badges and can be entered into draws by completing activities and logging the amount of time you have been reading. The more time you spend reading the more badges and draw entries you will earn.

How can I participate in the Summer Reading Challenge if I am unable to create an account on Beanstack, or if I want to use pen and paper to track my reading?

We have a paper reading tracker you can use! Download the PDFs or contact us and we can assist you with getting a copy. Please email for more information.
