Are there holds lists?

There are no hold lists – your access is instant from the time that you click “Borrow”!

What is the difference between streaming and downloading?

Streaming is viewing video content in real-time, which requires an internet connection. Download is storing content so that it is available offline at a later time. This is particularly important for smartphone users, as streaming content uses a significant amount of bandwidth. It is wise to download content while using a wireless internet connection so that it can be viewed on the go.

Which devices are supported by hoopla?

Hoopla is supported by Apple devices that have iOS 6 or higher (iPhone 3GS and higher, iPad 2 and higher, iPod Touch 4th Generation and higher), as well as select Android devices that support 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and above.

What is Widevine?

Widevine is a safe video player that uses your web browser to play video content. It is a free browser add-on that is owned by Google. If you do not already have Widevine when you attempt to play your video, you will be prompted to download Widevine. When you are directed to the Widevine website, you can click on Install Now and follow the on-screen prompts. Note: you must re-start your browser and sign in to Hoopla in order for the installation to complete.

How do you install Widevine?

It depends on the browser you are using, but the Widevine website has installation manuals for Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 10, Chrome, and Firefox. Note: you must re-start your browser and sign in to Hoopla in order for the installation to complete.

Can a title be returned early?

You can return items early by pressing the “Return” button at the top right of the item page.

Does any of the video content have closed captioning?

Yes, hoopla does provide closed captioning whenever possible.

Can viewers stop viewing and return later?

Absolutely! As long it is still within your borrowing period, you can return to your video at any time.

Can hoopla content be downloaded?

Hoopla content can be downloaded on the hoopla app only – not on web browsers.

Can viewers watch on multiple devices?
