Kobo Vox and eBooks and Audiobooks from Libraries on the Go / OverDrive

Want to download and read eBooks or listen to audiobooks from Oakville Public Library’s Libraries on the Go / OverDrive service on your Kobo Vox?  You first need to install the OverDrive Media Console app.  Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Settings app, ensure that wifi is turned on and you are connected to a wireless network. 
  2. Go to the Settings app on the Kobo Vox.  Under Applications, ensure the “Unknown sources” is selected to “Allow installation of non-Market applications”.
  3. Go to the Internet browser app on the Kobo Vox.
  4. In the address bar, go to www.overdrive.com/software/omc/
  5. Find the section that states “If your device doesn’t support Android Market, you can download OverDrive Media Console for Android from OverDrive” and select the link.
  6. Click on “I agree” to the terms to continue.
  7. A download for “ODMediaConsoleSetup.apk” will start.
  8. After the download is complete, open the system bar by dragging down from the
    top of the screen. This will display the system bar.
  9. Tap on the download for ODMediaConsoleSetup.apk in order to install the app.
  10. Select ‘Open’ once the installation is complete
  11. OverDrive will be installed in the ‘All Apps’ section and can be placed onto the home or any screen at any time by tapping the screen.
  12. Tap the menu (middle) button on the bottom of the Vox to see the navigation tools: “Get Books”, “Sort by”, “Last Opened”, “App Settings”, “Downloads”, “More”
  13. Follow instructions for OverDrive per Android devices with OverDrive Media Console:

a)      You will be prompted to activate OverDrive Media Console for Android with an Adobe id.  Follow the link provided on your Vox to activate Adobe.

b)      Follow these instructions to download a title after you have checked it out in Libraries on the Go using the app’s  “Get Books” tool.

c)       Follow these instructions to return eBooks early
