2020 Teen Photography Contest – Official Rules & Regulations

Contest Dates: Submissions will be accepted from Monday July 6 – Tuesday September 1 by 11: 59 pm.

Contest Theme: “Connection”

Ages: 13-18 currently enrolled or returning to high school

How to Submit:

  • Photos can be submitted by posting your photograph to Instagram using the hashtag #OPLPhotoContest2020
  • If you do not use Instagram or if you have your account set to private, photos can be sent to oplprograms@oakville.ca – these photos will not be posted to Instagram but will be judged for the Grand Prize

Entry limit:
No more than one submissions will be accepted per student.

We will accept:

  • Any digital photo taken by a student in grades 7-12 who is either an Oakville resident or Oakville Public Library cardholder
  • Minor adjustments made to photos (i.e sharpening, contrast and slight colour adjustments)

What we cannot accept:

  • Photographs that have won* other contests (*winning is defined as having won grand prize or winning first, second or third place overall)
  • Photos that violate or infringe on another person’s rights, including (but not limited to) copyright. You must obtain written consent from the subject of your photo/story in order for it to be considered.
  • Photos that portray nudity or illegal activity
  • Images created solely on the computer
  • Immediate family members of OPL staff, board members and volunteers are ineligible due to the library’s Contests & Lotteries policy.

Photo Permissions

By submitting an image to The Teen Photo Contest, participants agree to their submission being added to the Oakville Images Collection.

Grand Prize

Our photography loving OPL staff will judge entries and announce the sole grand prize winner on our social media. Stay tuned to our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. The Winner will receive an OPL Prize pack. The Grand Prize winner will be announced on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.
