Ponderings of a Ferris Wheel

by Caitlyn Giles Bonekamp

The monotony is unbearable,

One day after another, one round after another.

The people go up,

then down,

and they continue to come back.

Why?

It is the same, a cycle.

For a reason that is unexplainable, it is understandable.

A comfort in the repetition provides something magical;

The lights are vibrant, swelling the moment.

Not thrilling, no exhilaration, and no anticipation needed.

However, there is a pleasure so strong,

it halts time itself.

Nothing more than a childhood fancy,

but it is perfect nonetheless.
