Menopause

Menopause is a term describing the final cessation of menstruation, i.e., the end of the primary functions of the human ovaries (namely, the ripening and release of ova and the release of hormones that are responsible for the creation of the uterine lining and its subsequent shedding). Typically, though not always, menopause occurs during a woman's late 40s or early 50s, and signals the end of the fertile phase of her life.
